What's perhaps notable by its absence is a sense of the normative roles of journalism, e.g. 'holding power to account' (there's no mention of power), 'giving a voice to the voiceless', 'shining a spotlight', 'educating an audience' etc. (one exception is references to misinformation and factchecking).
By the way, this has provided a very useful framework for analysing how my students have used AI and where I might take my teaching next (mainly sensemaking and some information gathering, but not productivity, training, distribution or editing - at least they don't admit to the editing which I think suggests a reluctance to admit it even when transparency is encouraged. I'm now considering an explicit task which requires them to use AI for part of the editing)
